Welch Materials at Pittcon 2026: The Recap

Last week, Welch Materials team had a wonderful week in San Antonio at Pittcon 2026. It was a week defined by connection, breakthrough innovation, and impactful thought leadership. As we return to our office, we want to share a conclusive recap of a truly remarkable exposition.

Our booth was bustling from the moment the doors opened. For the Welch team, the greatest highlight of any conference is the opportunity to meet directly with our clients, both existing and new. These conversations—discussing new research challenges, hearing feedback on method performance, and brainstorming analytical solutions—are the engine that drives our development.

This year, the energy at the booth was amplified by the introduction of our next-generation chiral solution: Blossmate Chiral Columns. This new series represents a significant leap forward in chiral stationary phase technology. Engineered to replace our existing Ultisil chiral series, these columns are designed to be your primary partner across all separation scales, from initial analytical R&D to bulk purification. Our presence at Pittcon was not limited to the exposition floor. We are honored to host a small symposium, where we addressed the pressing challenges and defining trends in liquid chromatography.

We were proud to feature Dr. David Bell, a renowned expert and editor of the "Column Watch" series, who gave an insightful address on the current trends and future in liquid chromatography.

In his speech, Dr. Bell provided a masterful overview of particle technologies today, from the stall of its development, the potential of hybrid materials, ordered materials, and improved surface directing methods, to the possibility of moving away from particle beds. He then further discussed about the future in stationary phase developments, focusing on the continuous needs for alternative selectivity, application specificity, and the possibility of integrated synthesis.

Following this overview of the future, our Global Technical Marketing Manager, Mr. Ram Krishan Sood, provided a practical guide on perhaps the most critical analytical decision: column selection, for biopharmaceutical analysis. In his talk, Mr. Sood introduced a number of Welch Materials' reversed-phase, size exclusion, and hydrophobic interaction columns, and their practical applications in the field of biopharmaceutics. 

Pittcon 2026 was more than just an event; it was a launchpad for the next year of collaboration and innovation at Welch Materials. We are invigorated by the connections we made and proud to continue driving the separation science community forward.
