We are also in the process of reviewing and refining the specifications for additional columns. Further updates will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
Reason for the Change
The previous pH range was determined based on column stability at room temperature. However, chromatographic applications often operate at elevated temperatures, which can affect column durability. This adjustment ensures more accurate specifications for practical usage scenarios.
Technical Background
Silica-based stationary phases exhibit slight solubility in aqueous mobile phases when pH exceeds 8. To maximize the lifespan of silica-based columns, one should:
- Use buffers with concentrations not exceeding 20 mM.
- Maintain operating temperatures below 40°C.
Operating under extreme pH conditions or temperatures can significantly reduce column lifespan.
