To encourage chromatography learning and technical exchange among young professionals, Welch Materials organizes the Welch Materials Cup chromatography competition in China. The event provides a platform where participants can strengthen their knowledge, exchange ideas, and demonstrate their practical skills in chromatography.

This year, the written examination of the fourth Welch Materials Cup competition was held from July 20 to August 3. For the first time, the competition introduced a university student category, allowing currently enrolled students to participate alongside professional competitors. Both groups completed the same examination, while rankings were calculated independently.

The new university category attracted hundreds of students from dozens of universities across China. Through the competition, participants had the opportunity to test their understanding of chromatography principles, analytical methods, and practical applications. The event also encouraged students to connect classroom knowledge with real-world laboratory challenges.

Among all university participants, a student from Shanghai University of Engineering Science achieved the highest score in written examination and won first place in the university category. This achievement reflects not only personal dedication but also the growing enthusiasm of young students for chromatography and analytical science.

The practical competition of the fourth Welch Materials Cup will take place on August 18 at the Welch Materials production base in Nanjing. Five outstanding university participants from the written examination will join the other eight professional competitors in the hands-on stage. Through practical experiments and technical challenges, participants will further demonstrate their chromatography skills and exchange experience with peers from different backgrounds.
