In today’s era of rapid technological advancement, both in work and in daily life, there is a constant pursuit of speed and efficiency. In the field of analysis and testing, there is an increasing demand for shorter experimental times to achieve faster research and development, higher on-time delivery rates, and increased productivity per individual. Especially for cutting-edge pharmaceutical research organizations, universities, and third-party testing agencies with stringent delivery requirements, they prioritize the use of ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) for testing, which can provide results 3 to 4 times faster than conventional liquid phase testing.

However, despite having invested in such an expensive UHPLC chromatography system, we have discovered that there are very few options available for UHPLC columns. How can we proceed under such circumstances?

Column problem? Welch Materials has got you covered!

The pillar problem, solved by Welch!

After successfully launching 10 types of UHPLC bonded phases (*see endnote for details), Welch Materials is now introducing two new bonded phases: Amide (polyacrylamide) and HILIC Amphion II (zwitterionic). With our advanced manufacturing technology, we continue to expand our product offerings and provide solutions for your chromatography needs.

These two new key combinations will address the following issues for you:

● Enable fast and efficient separation of sugars, peptides, and low-molecular-weight polar drugs in HILIC mode!

● Enable rapid separation of most polar compounds in HILIC mode without the need for ion-pair reagents!

Introduction to Ultisil® UHPLC HILIC Amphion Ⅱ Column:

Ultisil® UHPLC HILIC Amphion Ⅱ is a new type of dual ion-bonded silica-based HILIC chromatography product developed by MoonX Technology. It is suitable for the separation of most polar compounds and typically utilizes acetonitrile and water as the mobile phase without the need for ion-pair reagents.

Ultisil® UHPLC HILIC Amphion Ⅱ packing material features a structure that contains both cationic and anionic groups, possessing positive and negative charge centers. As a result, it can greatly enhance the retention of acidic and basic compounds through ion-exchange mechanisms. This chromatographic packing material exhibits excellent hydrophilicity, enabling the separation of polar, hydrophilic small-molecule targets, as well as alkaline compounds, in HILIC mode. Compared to traditional silica and amino-based HILIC fillers, this filler provides better reproducibility and a more stable HILIC separation capability.

Product Features:

  1. Utilizes a dual ion-bonded silica gel stationary phase.
  2. Enhanced hydrophilic interactions, resulting in strong retention for polar and hydrophilic compounds.
  3. The filler contains both cationic and anionic groups, providing ion-exchange mechanisms and offering different selectivity compared to regular HILIC fillers.
  4. Does not require the use of ion-pair reagents, achieving the separation of polar target compounds with a simple mobile phase (typically acetonitrile and water).
