After reading the previous articles about the ion-pair, we believe you have a clear understanding of reversed-phase ion pair chromatography. Today we will share some precautions regarding that.

Applicable substance type

① No or weak retention on the reversed-phase chromatographic column;

② Compounds have strong ionic functional groups, such as carboxyl, ammonium, amino, etc;

③ The compound has sufficient solubility in the mobile phase of the reversed-phase system.

Method characteristics

In the mobile phase, the corresponding acid or basic ion pair reagent is added to the aqueous phase according to the dissociatable functional groups of the detection substance, and the analyzed components need to become dissociated state, i.e. ionic state.

Initial condition

Pay attention to the pH range tolerated by the analytical column
