1.Non-polar Effect
Considering factors:
Low molecular weight of the target compound (<250) or weak non-polar substance
Optional packing type:
C2, C8, C18.
Considering factors:
The target compound is high molecular weight (> 250) or strong non-polar substance.
Optional packing type:
C2, C4, C6, C8, pH.
Considering factors:
A variety of neutral target compounds have different poles.

2.Polar effect
Considering factors:
Target compounds are polar.
Optional packing type:
Alumina, diatomaceous earth, Si, NH2, CN, diol.

3.Cation exchange
Considering factors:
The target compound is permanently with positive charge (eg quaternary ammonium).

SCX, PRS2, CBA, C21.
Considering factors:

4.Anion exchange
Considering factors:
The target compound is permanently with negative charge.

SAX, NH2.
