Cefoxitin sodium, chemical formula C16H16N3NaO7S2, is a kind of cephalosporin antibiotics, semi-synthetic second generation cephalosporin, characterized by strong antibacterial effect on Gram-negative bacteria, with high resistance to β -lactamase properties. The antibacterial spectrum includes Escherichia coli, Bacillus pneumoniae, indole positive proteus and Serratia, Klebsiella influenzae, Salmonella, shigella and so on. It also has a good effect on staphylococcus and various streptococcus. It is mainly used for respiratory tract infection, endocarditis, peritonitis, pyelonephritis, urinary tract infection, septicemia, bone, joint, skin and soft tissue infection caused by sensitive bacteria.

In this paper, the related substances of cefoxitin sodium were detected by Welch Ultisil® Plus Phenyl column and cefoxitin sodium content was detected by Welch Ultisil® Alk C18 column. All the results could meet the detection requirements.

It was determined with Welch Ultisil® Plus-Phenyl (4.6×250mm, 5μm) under the chromatographic conditions, which could meet the detection requirements.

Mobile phase: Water/acetonitrile/glacial acetic acid =81/19/1;

Detection wavelength: 254nm;

Column temperature: 30℃;
